At the 56th Kinetic Heterogeneity Study Days (April 2–3, 2026, Grenoble), Lorenzo Callejon was awarded the Jean Besson Prize, an annual award given since 1991 to a PhD student who presents a high-level scientific communication in the field of heterogeneous kinetics. This prize primarily recognizes pedagogical excellence, clarity of presentation, and the ability to respond pertinently to audience questions.

Lorenzo brilliantly presented his work on the study of the durability of U1-xThxO2 solid solutions, incorporating different families of fission products, synthesized by wet methods and sintered according to innovative protocols. His approach, combining controlled microstructures and the study of dissolution kinetics, caught the jury's attention for its scientific rigor and potential impact on understanding the mechanisms of nuclear fuel reprocessing.

This recognition highlights the complementarity between fundamental and applied research for the closure of the nuclear fuel cycle, and underscores the commitment of ICSM and CEA to the training of tomorrow's scientists.
