Since 1986, the French radiochemistry community has met to exchange ideas and discuss future research topics. The Journées Nationales de Radiochimie et de Chimie Nucléaire (National Radiochemistry and Nuclear Chemistry Days) are held every two years and bring together a hundred participants from academic and industrial laboratories involved in nuclear activities in France. In parallel, the Journées d'Etudes de la Chimie sous Rayonnement have brought together researchers and industrials interested in the effects of ionizing radiation on matter every two years since 1982. The Journées d'Étude de la Chimie sous Rayonnement et de la Radiochimie merged in 2018 to form the Journées d'Étude de la Chimie sous Rayonnement et de la Radiochimie. Following the first edition in Strasbourg in 2018, University Côte d'Azur hosted the second edition in 2022.

The third Rencontres Rayonnement Radio-Chimie (R3C) will be held at the Musée de la Romanité in Nîmes from June 18 to 20, 2024, organized by the Marcoule Institute in Separation Chemistry and CEA Marcoule.

The following topics will be discussed during these days:

  • Primary effects of ionizing radiation
  • Radiation chemistry
  • Radioelement chemistry
  • Upstream and downstream of the electronuclear cycle
  • the environment
  • Radiobiology
  • Health
  • Industrial applications
